Besides sunbathing and swimming in Lake Vättern you can also have a wonderful time by enjoying the beautiful view over Sweden’s second biggest lake. The water isn’t very deep at Domsand beach so this is an ideal place for your children to swim and to have themselves a great time. The campsite offers you to play volleyball, ping-pong or to make your very own magnificent campfire. On every field you will find a campfire place, just to make sure you will have a warm and cosy evening.

In the surrounding area there are a lot of great activities to do as a family or by yourself. At Hökensås natural reserve you can make long and short hikes through woods and lakes and there is also a lovely little waterfall near Brandstorp. There you can have a relaxing picnic while only hearing the sound of water, birds and wind going through the trees. But if you want to go to the city, Jönköping is only 15 kilometres away. Here you will find museums such as the Radiomuseum, Huskvarnamuseum or the Tändstickmuseum. And for shopping you can go to the city centre or the A6 shopping mall.

Because of our central location you can also make trips that are a little bit further away from our campsite. Were always there at the reception to give you advice to make sure that you have a nice day out in Sweden.

And after a day full of activities our Camping is a great place to return to. Next to the reception we have an outside area where you can relax or have something to eat. And if you still got some energy left, we organize Elksafaris on several occasions during the summer. More information about the safari you can also find on our website!

Moose safari

At Habo Camping & Stugby, we organize a moose safari every summer. On Tuesday and Thursday evenings we gather at the reception desk to later go by bus to Tumbäcks Gård, north of Habo.

Experience the Swedish nature as close as possible.

When we arrive at the farm, we change from the bus to a large open trailer. The farmer then takes us with his tractor into the woods and there we look for the “Forest King”, the wild moose. We cannot give you any guarantee but normally we are lucky enough to see moose or other wildlife.

Unlike deers, moose has no owner. Tumbäcks Farm is a large farm with about 500 hector of land that extends between Hökensås – Gustav Adolf and down to the lake.

Hiking and Biking

Habo Camping & Stugby is a great starting point for going on a hiking or cycling route. For a short outing, there are several short trails around and nearby the campsite, however these routes are not always well marked but in principle not difficult to follow. You will get a map at the front desk and an explanation of how to best follow the route, these routes are child friendly and easily accessible. From the campsite you can also enter more marked and longer trails, for example, if you walk towards Ebbarp, it can be up to 10 or 14 km long hiking trails starting from the Gränsenstugan.

To bike around Vättern is a challenge, especially for those who do not bike so often, but for experienced cyclists it can be quite good. The lake itself is the second biggest in Sweden with the highest point being 300 meters above sea level. A bike path goes along the campsite and can take you to Habo (5 km north) or Jönköping (12 km south). To the west we have a beautiful route that leads you to the Habo Church, this church is unique and always open to the public.
